Teen Drowns in School Pool in Lansing

November 16, 2018-A 14 year old boy passed away today after being pulled from a school swimming pool on Friday. According to a report from the Lansing Police Department, police, fire and ems personnel were called to Thornton Fractional South High School on November 14 at approximately 4:14 p.m. for a male unresponsive in the pool. “Upon arrival, CPR was being performed on a 14 year-old student from Thornton Fractional North. It was learned that the student was practicing with the swim team and had been swimming in the deep end of the pool when he went underwater” the report states. Another swimmer had located the young man and pulled him from the pool. The unidentified male was transported to Community Hospital in Munster and then transferred to the University of Chicago Hospital. The boy later succumbed to his injuries according to the report.

Thornton Fractional school officials have sent out information to parents and made grief counselors available to students according to the report.
