Gary Police Charge Hammond Man With Attempted Rape, Battery of Pregnant Woman

January 27, 2017-Gary Police say a Hammond man threatened a woman’s life and then returned to her home a few days later and kicked in her door, battered her and sexually assaulted her. ¬†According to Gary Police Lt. Dawn Westerfield, Donald D. Luckett, Jr. of Hammond went to a Gary residence on January 19, 2017. While there he threatened the life of a female occupant of the residence. According to Police, Luckett, Jr. returned to the residence on January 24, 2017 when he kicked in the door to the residence, forced his way inside and battered and sexually assaulted the pregnant victim. Lucket was taken into custody at the time of the January 24 incident and was charged yesterday. Luckett is charged with Criminal Confinement, Attempted Rape, two counts of Intimidation, Battery Causing Bodily Injury to a Pregnant Woman, Residential Entry and Criminal Mischief and is currently in custody.
