Griffith Police Investigate Possible Armed Robbery

January 12, 2017-Griffith Police are investigating an incident which they describe as a “possible armed robbery.” According to the report, “just before 9:00PM on January 10, 2017, police responded to a call of what the victim described as an attempted armed robbery. The adult victim alleges that while he was working at Pagoda Inn located at 1105 E Ridge Rd in Griffith, a subject entered the restaurant and displayed a semi-automatic handgun, ordering the victim to raise his hands. The victim then rushed the suspect with a nearby chair and the suspect fled out the door, running to the east and then south near Glenwood Street before the victim lost sight of him. No injuries, damage, or theft was reported. No patrons were in the restaurant at the time.”

The victim described the suspect as male black, approx 5’9” with a slender build. He was wearing gloves and a black face mask which covered most of his face. He was also wearing dark colored clothing and was described to have a young sounding voice.
