High Speed Chase Ends in Rollover on I-65 in Merrillville

by Ken Davidson Lake County Police attempted to stop a white Buick on I-65 at approximately 8:25 this morning.  The vehicle was believed to contain a subject wanted by police.  The vehicle fled to the end of I-65 at US 12/20 where it turned and headed back south on the interstate.  Gary Police were notified as the vehicle approached 12/20 but were not involved in the chase.  County police continued to follow the vehicle until it reached an area near 61st Avenue where the vehicle exited the road and rolled over.  Neither the name of the driver nor the extent …continue reading

Merrillville High Speed Chase Ends in Fatal Crash in Gary

Gary, Lake County-This morning, Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at approximately 11:36 a.m., the Indiana State Police were called to cover a fatal crash that occurred in the 3600 block of Georgia Street in Gary. Earlier Merrillville Police were involved in a pursuit with a 2006 Mercedes Benz C20. The pursuit had been terminated when the Mercedes was north bound on Georgia at a high rate of speed, lost control, and hit a tree head on behind a residence.
