May 17, 2020-The Griffith Police Department has issued a Silver Alert after a mentally handicapped woman walked away from a group home in the area of 35th and Cline Avenue at approximately 6:00 a.m. on May 16. “. The 48 year old woman, Dushawna, (pictured) is a black female, approx 5’ tall, weighing approx 180 lbs, and was believed to be wearing blue jeans and possibly a light colored top. She is reported to be soft spoken and is described as having the mental capacity of a young child. “
Griffith Police utilized a K-9 and the Lake County Sheriff’s helicopter in an extensive search but were unable to locate Dashawna according to a statement.
