BUSTED! 2 in Custody in Church Vandalism Case

May 31, 2019-According to a source close to the investigation, Hammond Police have arrested two individuals in connection with Wednesday’s vandalism of a local church.  Few details are available at this time, but the individuals reportedly admitted some level of involvement in the incident.  Police received dozens of tips from residents after the community learned of the incident.

At the time of the vandalism, Hammond Chief John Doughty stated “This is an act that shakes the core of our good city and we are using every investigative tool including video surveillance and even blood evidence found at the scene. We will not stand for this type crime to any business or home in our city.”  The church will still have to repair and replace tens of thousands of dollars worth of items which were damaged or destroyed in the incident.
