Driver Hits Hammond School Bus

According to Terry Butler, Director of Transportation at the School City of Hammond, there were no injuries and only one student was on the bus at the time of the accident

January 24, 2019-Hammond school officials have confirmed that a bus was involved in a minor three vehicle accident early this morning.  According to Director of Transportation Terry Butler, the incident occurred at approximately 8:42 a.m. today at the intersection of 173rd St. and Columbia Avenue.  No injuries were reported.  Mr. Butler reported that the vehicle depicted above struck a commercial vehicle with a Fed Ex logo and then struck the School City of Hammond owned bus.  A police report on the incident is not yet available, but at least one witness reportedly stated that the driver of the Chevrolet SUV, pictured above, disregarded the automatic signal at the intersection.
