Hammond Police Investigating Pair of Suspicious Fires

December 6, 2018-Hammond Police and Fire Department are investigating after a pair of suspicious garage fires early this morning.  Lt. Steven Kellogg of the Hammond Police Department confirmed the investigation but declined to provide further details stating “Due to the investigation at this time, I have no information to provide.”

Firefighters were first called to the 3012 165th Street at approximately 2:20 a.m. according to information derived from the scanner.   Police were called to investigate that fire as an arson when another call came in for a fire at 6718 Grand Avenue.  Police quickly learned that both properties were owned by the same individual and began to investigate the other fire also.  According to information derived from the scanner, police have a person of interest but have not yet located that person.
