MC Mayor Calls 9-1-1 After Alleged Threat in Office

Indiana State Police will investigate after man arrested by Michigan City Police in Mayor’s Office

November 2, 2018-Indiana State Police will investigate after Michigan City Mayor Meer reported that a man had made verbal threats to him in his office. Michigan City, Trail Creek and Long Beach Police responded to a 9-1-1 call at the Mayor’s office at approximately 2:10 p.m. today according to a statement from Indiana State Police. Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer called police and alleged that Rodney McCormick, 51 of Michigan City, made verbal threats to him according to the statement. Officers arrived and took McCormick into custody and charged with intimidation. “Michigan City Police Chief Mark Swistek contacted the Indiana State Police and requested that[they] continue the investigation to the arrest of Rodney McCormick.

McCormick was taken to the LaPorte County Jail in LaPorte where he is currently being held on no bond pending a court appearance on Monday, November 5th
