St. John Police Say Intoxicated Driver Had Gun in Car

Police responded to the area of 101st and Earl Drive reference a Silver Chrysler stopped in the roadway with the driver unresponsive.

September 4, 2018-St. John Police said a call regarding a car parked in the street resulted in a handgun and OWI charge for a Whiting man.  According to the statement from Police Chief James Kveton, “On Monday September 3, 2018 at approximately 12:17PM, members of the St. John Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the area of 101st and Earl Drive reference a Silver Chrysler stopped in the roadway with the driver unresponsive.” Officers say they found 25 year old Caesar Villagran asleep in the vehicle. Police saw an open bottle of alcohol and a handgun on the seat according to the report. Fire crews forced entry into the vehicle and performed a well-being check on Villagran. Villagran was later charged with OWI, No Valid Driver’s License, carrying a firearm without a permit and possessing open alcohol in a vehicle.

 

All criminal defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.  A criminal charge is not evidence of guilt.
