Wind Shuts Down South Shore Rush Hour Trains

August 6, 2018-A wind burst in Gary’s Miller section caused an electrical power failure on the South Shore line stranding rush hour trains. According to an alert from the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD), operator of the South Shore Line, the length of the delay is unknown. It is not known if NICTD will be providing busing or other temporary services for riders stranded by the outage or how many are affected by trains currently stopped.
