Man Shot After Hessville Armed Robbery

July 27, 2018-Hammond Police have confirmed that a man was robbed and shot in the 7200 block of Montana Avenue last night.  According to Lt. Steven Kellogg of the Hammond Police Department, officers responded to the 7200 block of Montana Avenue in Hammond’s Hessville section at 11:45 reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 30 year old male lying in the middle of the street. The suspect suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Neither the identity nor the condition of the victim were released. The victim was able to speak with police and stated that he was walking in the area when a ” white male, approximately 5’10” approached him and told him to give him all of his money.” The suspect took approximately $600, shot the victim and fled the area according to the report.
