June 20, 2018-According to Indiana Department of Natural Resource Officers, two personal watercraft collided in Lake Michigan near Whiting earlier today. “Two Personal Watercraft’s (PWC’s) were operating near one other, outside of the Whiting Beach (Hammond Area) this afternoon, when they struck one another resulting in a severe head injury to one of the operators” the report reads. The injured operator was airlifted to University of Chicago where he is in stable condition DNR Officials stated. “The identity of each operator are were being withheld, at this time, due to the age of each persons on board each vessel.”
Officials say neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the incident and investigation into the cause continues.
