Hammond Fire Leads to Murder, Arson Charges

June 6, 2018-According to Hammond Police Lt. Steven Kellogg, a Chicago man has been charged in connection with a fire in which his estranged wife died. According to the report “Hammond police initially responded on April 14th at approximately 2:23 a.m., along with the Hammond Fire Department, to a house fire on Doty Street just east of State line Avenue in Hammond. Three people were rescued from the home engulfed in flames. Fire Department personnel advised Hammond Detectives that the cause of the fire was arson.” 3 people were transported to hospitals as a result of injuries received in the fire according to the report. 62-year-old Brenda Young Poole died at the hospital from smoke inhalation.

Police investigated and today charged Ronald Alan Gee, age 42, from Chicago with two counts of Murder, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of arson resulting in serious bodily injury, and arson.
