73 Year Old Former Credit Union Manager Sentenced for $491K Check Kiting Scheme

May 11, 2018-A 73 year old former Credit Union manager was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison and ordered to pay $491,169.71 in restitution according to a statement from United States Attorney Thomas L. Kirsch. According to documents filed in the case, Santay was the manager of Lakeside Federal Credit Union. Pursuant to the plea agreement, below, Santay admitted that she engaged in a check kiting scheme going back to 2012. Santay says the money was used to gamble at local casinos. According to the Plea Agreement, Santay faced up to 30 years in prison and a $1M fine.

Santay was represented by Attorney Kerry Connor. Assistant United States Attorney Diane Berkowitz prosecuted the case.
