Police, Fire, Animal Control Rush in to Rescue Dogs from Burning Garage

May 8, 2018-Porter County Sheriff’s Deputies, Hebron Police, Indiana State Police, Boone Grove Fire Department, Porter EMS and Porter County Animal Control assisted with a garage fire at a residence in Porter Township in the 500 South Block of CR 500 West. Among the responding officers were Hebron Police Chief Josh Noel and Officer Casey Robinson and Porter County Officers Officer Mike Piazza and Officer Tyler Williams according to the report.

During the course of the fire, first responders learned that there were dogs in the garage. The homeowners were not home at the time according to the report. Officers, Firefighters and Animal Control sprang into action and removed 7 dogs, two of whom were pregnant, from the garage. CPR and first aid were administered by the emergency personnel. Officers utilized their personal vehicles to rush the dogs to area animal hosptitals. No information regarding the condition of the dogs was available at the time of this report.
