BREAKING: Shots Fired During Armored Car Robbery in Hammond

April 28, 2018-At approximately 7:30 a.m. today Hammond Police were called to Chase Bank, 4204 Calumet Avenue, for a report of an armed robbery. According to information obtained from the scanner, the driver of an armored car stated that he had been robbed at gunpoint. Police responded and discovered the armored car in the drive through lane at Chase Bank had been robbed.

Minutes after arrival on scene at Chase, Police received a report of a vehicle fire on Boy Scout Road between Hammond and Hegewisch. That vehicle is, at a this point, believed to be the car in which the armed robbers escaped the Chase Bank robbery. Hammond Police are searching the area with the assistance of a K9 Officer and multiple other agencies.
