April 27, 2018-Hobart Police are asking for assistance from the public in identifying and locating the subject in the photos above. According to a statement, “On April 20, 2018, Hobart Police were dispatched to a business on the 2600 block of East 79th Avenue, in reference to a theft of a purse that had occurred. The victim reported a female black had approached her in the store while she was shopping and engage her in conversation, which took her attention away from her purse, which was located in her shopping cart. The victim explained after a few minutes the female left the area and shortly after she left, she had a “bad feeling” and looked into her purse and realized her wallet was missing from her purse. After the officer had finished gathering the facts of the case, the victim received a message from her credit card company that her credit card had just been used at a business down the street on the 2200 block of East 80th Avenue. The victim described the female as a female black, with long hair, which was pulled into a bun, wearing a long sleeve green colored shirt, khaki vest coat, khaki pants, furthermore the victim guessed that the suspect was in her mid to late 40’s and she weighed about 185 pounds.”
The officer then went to the store where the fraud was reported and obtained the above surveillance images, according to the report.
