while she slept” Statement from Lansing Police Department
April 2, 2018-According to a report from the Lansing Police Department, “On April 2, 2018, at approximately 12:00 am, the Lansing Police Department responded to 17766 Rosewood Dr., where a 5 year old female had been shot. The Lansing Police and the Lansing Fire Department treated the child for her injury.” The child was transported her to the Munster Community Hospital for further treatment and was later transported to Comer Children’s Hospital. Information regarding the child’s current condition was not provided.
Police stated that “during an initial investigation, it was learned that there was a party at the reported location.
During this party, the child’s mother was handling a gun which went off, striking the child
while she slept.”
