Driver found to have outstanding warrants, the car was stolen and drugs and paraphernalia were found in the car according to police.
March 30, 2018-Indiana State Police say a Gary man was found to have two outstanding warrants after a traffic accident on I-80/94 earlier today. According to the statement from ISP, Thurman E. Dockery was travelling at a high rate of speed on I-80/94 near the 8.8 mile marker when he rear-ended a Cadillac XTS. ” Mr. Dockery’s vehicle then traveled north across all lanes of travel and crashed into the inside barrier wall. [The driver of the Cadillac] was able to pull his vehicle over onto the outside shoulder. The crash was captured on a good Samaritan’s dash cam who had stopped to check on the drivers.” Dockery was transported to Methodist Northlake Hospital as a result of injuries he received in the crash. The driver and passengers of the Cadillac XTS refused treatment according to the report.
Officers say they then determined that Mr. Dockery had two outstanding warrants. “Further investigation found that Mr. Dockery had two outstanding nationwide warrants. One was through Indiana for a parole violation stemming from a burglary charge. The other was through Cook County, Illinois for dangerous drugs charges.” Police say it was then determined that the vehicle was stolen out of Chicago, Illinois and drugs and paraphernalia were located in the vehicle.
Thurman Dockery was transported to the Lake County Jail where he is being held without bond. In addition to the two prior warrants, Mr. Dockery will be charged with Auto theft, Conversion, Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of a controlled substance, operator never licensed.
