March 12, 2018-Hammond Police are asking for assistance from the public in locating and identifying four suspects in a series of thefts. According to a statement from the Hammond Police Department, “The thefts took place during business hours on January 27th and February 24, 2018. The first crime occurred at the Mini-Mart located 7348 Columbia Ave. The second incident occurred later that day at the Discount Liquors at 7448 Columbia Ave. The third incident happened on February 24th at 1113 5th Ave at Sadoni Beauty Supply and the latest took place that same day at the Grand Foods at 6835 Grand Ave.”

In each of the incidents, police say that tow of the four entered a store and distracted employees by asking a question or asking for assistance. “The second two females then enter and go to the office or counter area and steal money. Three suspects are black females in their 20’s or early 30’s and one female is in her late 40’s or early 50’s. The females have worn the same clothing in each of the thefts except one and they have covered their heads with scarf, hoodie and/or hats. The females drive a black SUV (possibly a Hyundai Santa Fe type) with possible Illinois plates. A large amount of money and items were taken from three of the four businesses.”

The included photos show the females. Anyone who may be able to identify these females is asked to contact Hammond Police Detective John Suarez at 219-852-2981 or email: jsuarez@hammondpolice.com
