Gary Police are investigating after two shooting incidents today following an early morning homicide
March 11, 2018-Gary Police responded to the area of 51st and Georgia at approximately 3:30 pm today for a report of “a possible gsw in the alley.” “Callers advised that shots were fired from behind the apartment, they heard a loud bang, and then the [vehicle] ran into a tree.” Upon arrival, officers located a white male in a vehicle with gunshot wounds according to information obtained via the scanner. Gary Police have not yet released a statement on the breaking incident and this report will be updated if additional information is obtained. Neither the identity nor the condition of the victim is known at this time.
While officers were working the scene of the 51st and Georgia shooting, a call came in at approximately 4:00 p.m. regarding shots fired in the area of 21st Avenue in Gary’s Tarrytown section according to information obtained via the scanner. Officers arrived and again located a gunshot victim. A witness reported that the area of 21st Avenue between Morton and Williams Street was blocked off with police vehicles. Gary Police have not yet issued a statement on this breaking event. Neither the condition nor the identity of the victim is known at this time.
