Gary Double Homicide: Man and Woman Shot to Death-Suspect at Large

Police are investigating the shooting death of a 44 year old woman and a 29 year old man as a homicide according to Lake County Coroner Merrilee Frey

February 25, 2018-A domestic disturbance turned tragic last night after a man armed with a gun showed up at an apartment building in the 2000 block of Carolina Street in Gary. According to the report from Lake County Coroner Merrilee Frey, coroner investigators were called to the scene at 2:06 a.m. Upon arrival, investigators pronounced a male and a femal dead at the scene. The names of the victims is being withheld pending notification of family.

Gary Police have not yet issued a statement regarding the incident. According to information derived from the scanner and a witness who was on scene, there was an argument between two males. One male began shooting outside and followed the pair inside where he continued to shoot. Each was shot multiple times leaving a gruesome scene within the apartment complex. The suspect fled the scene and Gary Police searched the area without success according to a nearby resident who asked to remain anonymous.

UPDATE:  Lake County Coroner Merrilee Frey issued an updated report regarding the male victim.  He is identified as Van Dyke Cason, 29, of the 1700 block of 5th Avenue, Gary.
