Lansing Police say the individiuals in the following photos are persons of interest in armed robberies in Lansing, Midlothian and Harvey, IL as well as an attempted armed robbery at a Burger King in Munster. All criminal suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
January 24, 2018-Lansing Police have issued an update with regard to an armed robbery that occurred in the Village on January 14, 2018. Ten minutes before that robbery, an armed robbery attempt was made at Burger King, 7938 Calumet Avenue, Munster, Indiana. Lansing Police now say the suspects are also wanted in connection with armed robberies which occurred in Midlothian and Harvey, IL.
According to the statement, “the Lansing Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is conducting an active investigation alongside the Munster, Indiana; Midlothian, Illinois; and Harvey, Illinois Police Departments on a series of armed robberies over the past several weeks. The same three suspects are believed to have committed armed robberies at retail establishments and restaurants in each of the municipalities.”
The first armed robbery was on January 10th, 2018 in Harvey at a T-Mobile store.
The next two armed robberies occurred on January, 14th in Munster and Lansing. The Munster armed robbery occurred at the Burger King at approximately 9:00 pm, followed shortly thereafter at the Family Dollar in Lansing at 9:50 pm.
The fourth armed robbery occurred the next day on January 15th, 2018 in Midlothian at approximately 8:00 pm, at a Dollar General store.
The details of the Lansing armed robbery are as follows:
On January 14th, 2018, at approximately 9:50 pm, the Lansing Police Department responded to the Family Dollar, 17829 Burnham Avenue, for an armed robbery involving a shooting. The suspects were described as three males wearing dark clothing that had fled from the business. Upon arrival, Officer’s located a 24 year old male clerk behind the counter of the business. The clerk had suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment, has undergone surgery and is currently in stable condition.
Officers were unable to locate the suspects in the area.
An investigation revealed that the business had been robbed by three black male suspects about ten minutes before closing time. The three suspects were all wearing dark clothing and had their faces partially covered, one of which had a handgun. The first suspect with the gun had on a black hoodie sweatshirt with white trim and black sweat pants with white stripes down the legs. The second suspect was wearing all black and had a distinctive brown backpack with light colored trim. The third suspect was wearing all black clothes with white and gold shoes and acted as a lookout during the robbery.
The clerk was shot during the commission of the robbery and an unknown amount of currency was taken from the cash register. The suspects fled the scene through the parking lot and eastbound on foot. Footprints in the snow led to a residential street, where it appears as if they entered into a vehicle.
No one was hurt during any of the other armed robberies; however, at least one suspect was armed with a handgun in each incident.
