US Marshalls Arrest Alleged Machete Attacker

Suspect also charged with attempted murder after Police say he shot into a car occupied by his ex-girlfriend in July, 2015

December 19, 2017-Hammond Police say that a man suspected in an attack with a Machete outside of Flat Rock Tap on December 9,2017 is in custody. Lt Kellogg states that Ryan Turner was arrested after a traffic stop in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. “On the evening of December 18th, the US Marshall’s conducted a traffic stop in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Ryan Turner was located hiding in the backseat of the vehicle. Mr. Turner is the suspect in two machete attacks that took place outside of business in December 9th” according to Lt. Kellogg. Turner also has warrants in two prior cases, including attempted murder as outlined below.

The Gazette first reported the story of the incident which occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m. outside the local establishment. According to sources, a female victim was hospitalized with serious injuries as a result of the attack. Hammond Police identified a suspect and filed the following charges on December 11, 2017:

Turner was out on bond for a pending Attempted Murder charge according to Lake County Court records. Ryan Dean Turner was charged with attempted murder by Highland Police after he allegedly shot at his ex-girlfriend as she sat in her car. Lake County Prosecutor Bernard Carter’s office allowed prior felony charges of auto theft and resisting arrest to be dismissed in 2016 based on a plea agreement that saw Turned walk away with a misdemeanor charge.
