Machete Attack at Hammond Bar Results in Two Individuals Being Hospitalized

December 11, 2017-According to several sources, a machete attack outside a local bar resulted in two individuals being hospitalized early Saturday Morning. Hammond Police have not yet issued a statement on the incident which occurred outside Flat Rock Tap around 2:00 a.m. on Friday. The Gazette received several messages regarding the incident via e-mail and social media. We have sorted through the accounts to gather the most credible evidence we can find at this point in time.

According to a friend of one of the victims who spoke to the Gazette on condition of anonymity, two individuals were outside the bar on Saturday morning smoking a cigarette. “They were attacked by multiple attackers with a machete.[one victim] was struck in the head” the individual told the Gazette. One victim remains hospitalized according to the witness.

According to information derived from the scanner, Police were able to track footprints in the snow and checked local cameras. The track went cold as police searched the area for suspects.

UPDATE: The incident has been confirmed by the Hammond Police Department via crimereports, but no further details were released at this time.

    • It was 2 o’clock in the morning at a bar. ANY bar in any city,town etc runs the risk of intoxicated people getting into trouble when its that late. I dont see how the mayor has turned his back on safety, when Hammond is the safest it has been in years and he just put in new crime cameras to make it safer. I agree it has nothing to do with the bar but to say the mayor has turned his back is just not accurate.
