LaPorte County Drug Task Force Announces Gun, Drug Arrests

Police say drugs, guns were removed from streets; federal charges may be pursued.

December 6, 2017-The LaPorte County Drug Task force has announced that 6 individuals were arrested after lengthy investigations with cooperation among multiple agencies. According to a statement, the investigations revolved around dealing in methamphetamine and cocaine. Police say over 70 grams of meth and 360 grams of cocaine were removed from the streets. Three handguns were seized in connection with the arrests.

According to the release, those arrested were:

Shane D. INGHELS (35) of Mishawaka, Indiana was arrested by The La Porte County Sheriff’s Department patrol division, after a vehicle pursuit which started in La Porte County and resulted in a crash on November 28th, 2017 in St. Joseph County. The La Porte County Drug Task Force assisted K-9 Deputy Andrew Hahn in this investigation, which ultimately led the seizure of 69 grams of methamphetamine, two handguns, and US Currency. Detective Willie Henderson, the lead investigator in the case presented evidence through The La Porte County Prosecutors Office, to La Porte Circuit Court, where probable cause was found to charge INGHELS with Dealing in Methamphetamine Level 2 Felony, and Serious Violent Felon in Possession of a Firearm Level 4 Felony. INGHELS is being held in The La Porte County Jail with a $50,000 cash bond.

Antoni C. MARTIN (27) of Harvey, Illinois was arrested on November 29th, 2017 after Cpl. Greg Radiger of The Michigan City Police Department initiated a traffic stop on MARTIN, and he fled on foot, discarding a handgun as he fled. Cpl. Radiger was assisted by Cpl. Francisco Rodriguez (lead investigator in this case), and Det. Willie Henderson of The La Porte County Drug Task Force. MARTIN was apprehended a short time later, and evidence was presented to La Porte County Superior Court #1, by The La Porte County Prosecutors Office. Probable cause was established, and MARTIN was subsequently charged Serious Violent Felon in Possession of a Firearm Level 4 Felony, and Resisting Law Enforcement a Level 6 Felony. MARTIN is being held in The La Porte County Jail with no bond.

Danielle FAULKENBURG (28) of La Porte, Indiana was arrested on Saturday December 2nd, 2017 after Sergeant Andy Hynek located FAULKENBURG in a vehicle in the 400 Block of Maple Avenue in La Porte, and the vehicle was reported stolen out of Marshal County, Indiana. Following an investigation by Sergeant Hynek, and Lt. Tim Richardson evidence was presented through The La Porte County Prosecutors Office, to La Porte Circuit Court, where probable cause was found to charge FAULKENBURG with Dealing Methamphetamine Level 4 Felony, Dealing Methamphetamine Level 5 Felony (two counts), and Auto Theft Level 6 Felony. FAULKENBURG is being held at The La Porte County Jail on a $20,000 cash only bond.

Jeremy J. KING (40) of Michigan City, Indiana was arrested on Sunday December 3rd, 2017 by lead investigator Willie Henderson, after a lengthy investigation into alleged narcotics dealing that KING was involved in around the La Porte County area. Det. Henderson presented evidence through The La Porte County Prosecutors Office to La Porte County Superior Court #1, where probable cause was found to charge KING with Dealing Methamphetamine Level 2 Felony, and Dealing Methamphetamine Level 3 Felony. KING is being held in The La Porte County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond.

Joseph A. PETERS (43) of Michigan City, Indiana was arrested on Monday December 4th, 2017 after Sgt. Andy Hynek conducted a traffic stop on PETERS near Springland and Carroll Avenue in Michigan City. Sgt. Hynek of The La Porte County Drug Task Force was assisted by Sgt. Dallas Smythe and his K-9 partner “Marko,” where 129 grams of cocaine were located on PETERS person. The La Porte County Prosecutors Office presented evidence to La Porte County Superior Court #1, where probable cause was found to charge PETERS with Dealing in Cocaine Level 2 Felony. PETERS is being held in The La Porte County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond.

Michael D. PERRY (43) of Gary, Indiana was arrested by The La Porte County Drug Task Force near Michigan Blvd. and Leeds Avenue on Monday December 4th, 2017, after he fled from a vehicle and ran into a wooded area nearby. PERRY was apprehended by members of the unit, and a search warrant for his vehicle was obtained, which resulted in the seizure of 230 grams of cocaine. Detectives Kyle Shiparski, and Al Schutz the lead investigators in the case presented evidence through The La Porte County Prosecutors Office to La Porte County Superior Court #1, where probable cause was found to charge PERRY with Dealing Cocaine Level 2 Felony, and Resisting Law Enforcement “A” Misdemeanor. PERRY is being held at The La Porte County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond.

Sgt. Andy Hynek stated “the La Porte County Drug Task Force has a great working relationship with The Drug Enforcement Agency, and The ATF, and those agencies are reviewing some of these cases for possible federal prosecution. These cases resulted in 3 firearms being removed from dangerous criminals, over 70 grams of meth being seized, and over 360 grams of cocaine being recovered. The drugs seized in this case have a street value of more than $30,000. The La Porte County Drug Task Force, and the proactive investigators assigned to the unit, continue to pursue narcotics suppliers in La Porte County.”

The La Porte County Drug Task Force was assisted in these cases by the patrol divisions from The La Porte County Sheriff’s Department, The La Porte City Police Department, The Michigan City Police Department, The La Porte County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Division, The La Porte County Prosecutors Office, The Indiana HIDTA Intel unit, and The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department.

All criminal defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. A criminal charge is not evidence of guilt.
