October 28, 2017-Two troopers sprang to action at a coffee house in Evansville yesterday when they saw a woman choking. According to a release from Indiana State Police, ” Master Trooper Mike Lehmkuhler and Trooper Korey Mauck were enjoying a cup of coffee at Donut Bank on Diamond Avenue when they heard an elderly woman coughing at the table next to them. They overhead the woman’s daughter ask her mom if she was alright. Trooper Lehmkuhler approached the woman and asked her if she was chocking and she nodded yes. While the woman was still sitting down, Lehmkuhler performed the Heimlich maneuver and immediately cleared her airway.” Master Trooper Mike Lehmkuhler is a 17 year veteran of the Department and an 11 year veteran of the SWAT team according to the statement. The woman’s daughter hugged Master Trooper Lehmkuhler and thanked him for saving her mother’s life.
