October 5, 2017-Lake County Sheriff’s Police recovered marijuana, cash and guns after a report of residents throwing marijuana from the windows of an apartment. According to Dan Murcheck of the Sheriff’s Police, Lake County Police were called to 1700 W. 47th Ave Gary for a report of someone growing marijuana. While officers were en route, dispatch advised that “the property manager was on scene watching the tenant’s throw marijuana plants out the window” according to the report. Neighbors also complained of an odor of marijuana in the building.
Police say there was a “very strong odor of raw marijuana” as they approached the residence. Officer’s approached the tenants and received consent to search the premises according to the report. A search of the residence netted 10 grams of suspected THC wax, 2.1 pound of suspected marijuana, 33 marijuana plants, $3059.00 U.S. Currency and a 40 Caliber handgun according to Commander Murcheck. Police arrested Darian Freda Female 19 year old, Emilio Leho male 20 year old both tenant’s from Gary and Sydney Lidster, a 22 year old female. All were transported to the Lake County Jail booked for probable cause possession of marijuana with further charges pending.
