Man Treated and Released After Shots Fired on I-80/94

September 22, 2017-Indiana State Police are investigating after a shooting incident on Interstate 80/94 and I-65. According to a release from Indiana State Police, “at approximately 3:33 a.m., this Friday, September 22, 2017, morning shots were being fired at 2015 Nissan Altima on I-65 northbound to I -80/94 west bound and on the ramp from west bound I-80/94 to Broadway. Multiple bullet casings were found by troopers on the interstate and ramp.”

The occupants of the car, driver, age 35 from Gary, front seat passenger, age 29 from Gary, and rear left passenger, age 45 from Merrillville were not injured. The Nissan had at least three bullet holes in the rear. A rear right passenger, age 46 from Gary was taken to North Lake Methodist Hospital in Gary with non-life threatening injuries and was released.

Occupants had stated they had left a bar in Merrillville and were in the area of I-65 northbound and I-80/94 westbound when they heard what sounded like gunfire. They exited off onto the Broadway ramp where they heard more gunfire. The only description they could give was a passenger car possibly a Chevrolet. Upon exiting off at Broadway the Nissan continued north to North Lake Methodist Hospital and the unknown passenger car was last seen around 23rd and Broadway.
