RDA Changes Meeting Date to Thursday September 7

September 5, 2017-The Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority (RDA) announced today that they will hold a Board meeting on Thursday September 7, 2017. The meeting will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the large conference room of the Purdue Technology Center, 9800 Connecticut Drive, Crown Point. The notice gives no indication of potential meeting topics and meeting agendas are generally not available prior to the meetings. The notice states “please note the change in date” implying that the originally scheduled September 14, 2017 meeting is cancelled. The Gazette is currently seeking clarification on this issue.

The RDA is the lead agency in the Slager/Visclosky Regional Transformation Plan. The secretive agency has been pursuing a $5B public-private partnership with consulting firm KPMG and recently appropriated another $2.9M in tax money to pay the consulting firm at its June meeting. Former board member Phil Taillon, City of Hammond appointee, represented the sole objection to the contract.

According to Indiana Law, the RDA is required to have meetings at least quarterly. Special meetings may be called by the Board Chair or by two members of the Board. The Gazette has also asked for clarification as to how this meeting was called.
