“I believe that Stallone’s story should be told, I think that it’s something people need to see . . . this is the real face of dogfighting” Humane Society of the United States worker
August 26, 2017-The video above depicts a fighting dog that was rescued by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) in 2009. While the video above is prior to the arrests in this case, the HSUS assisted law enforcement in Operation Grand Champion, the case in which Martn Jakubowski was involved. The dog fighting ring allegedly spanned several states and resulted in the rescue of 66 dogs by the HSUS. While the video of that rescue will probably not be released until after all of the criminal cases are prosecuted, the story of Stallone is presented as the face of dog fighting in the United States.
In a statement at the time of the Operation Grand Champion rescue, Chris Schindler, director of animal crimes for The HSUS, said: “These dogs are finally free from their lives inside dark crates or at the end of heavy chains. Most importantly, they will never again have to fight to the death.”
