Hammond Police Release Initial Report on Hessville Homicide

“Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no indication that the public is in any danger,” – Hammond Police Chief John Doughty.

August 22, 2017-Hammond Police have released an initial statement confirming that police were called to the scene of a gruesome homicide early this morning in Hessville. According to Lt. Steven Kellogg, “Hammond Police responded to a call at approximately 6:00 a.m. today to a home in the 7500 block of Alexander Ave. in reference to someone bleeding at a neighbor’s house. Police arrived to find a female in her 30’s deceased inside the home.” Hammond Police Chief John Doughty stated “We are waiting for the coroner’s official report to release the identity of the female victim.” Investigators have ruled this incident as a homicide according to Lt. Kellogg.

UPDATE: Lake County Coroner Merrilee Frey has issued a report in the matter. Coroner investigators were called to the 7500 block of Alexander at 9:00 a.m. on August 22, 2017. Investigators determined that 25 year old Lucia Gonzales of the 7500 block of Alexander had suffered multiple stab wounds. The case is being investigated as a homicide by the Hammond Police Department according to the report.
