August 21, 2017-Hammond Police are asking for help from the public in identifying and locating suspects in “a string of armed robberies.” According to Lt. Steven Kellogg of the Hammond Police Department, “The first [armed robbery] took place at approximately 6:20 AM in the 5800 block of Hohman Avenue. Two black males wearing hoodies attempted to rob an 85-year-old man and minutes later, the same suspects robbed a 67-year-old man in the 4000 block of Grover Avenue. Shortly after the second robbery, the suspects robbed a 33-year-old female walking with her 11-year-old daughter in the 4100 block of Wabash Avenue. The suspects were in possession of firearms in each robbery. Investigators believe that these same suspects then robbed a 49-year-old man in East Chicago, Indiana.
The suspects are described as black males between the ages of 16 and 24 years old. The suspects are 5’10” to 6’0″ tall and a medium build. One suspect was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and the other a blue hooded sweatshirt. The only description available for the suspect driving the vehicle is except a black male or female with
long hair. The vehicle is a 4-door grey in color sedan.*
These subjects should be considered armed and dangerous. If anyone can identify any of these suspects or the vehicle, they should call Hammond Police Detective Sgt. Rich Tumidulsky at (219) 852-2997, Det. Lieutenant Dave Carter (219) 852-2984, or Det. Sgt. Tom Textor at (219) 852-2973.
