August 11, 2017-A bid by 83 year old former RDA Chair Leigh Morris to regain the Mayor’s Seat in LaPorte was overwhelmingly rejected by party officials just moments ago. It took 5 ballots, but the 20 caucus members finally picked Mark Krentz as the new Mayor of LaPorte. One Region/RDA candidate Morris was never able to move past 3 votes. Krentz is the current talent attraction coordinator for the Greater La Porte Economic Development Corporation according to his LinkedIn profile. He s also President/CEO of Thanhardt-Burger Corporation which “specialize[s] in the manufacturing of hand-made picture frames.” The final vote was 7 for Roger Galloway and 12 for Mark Krentz.
Krentz gave a short acceptance speech, simply stating “I accept this with humility and I will do the best job I can do.” Krentz is being sworn in at this time.
