UPDATED: Homicide at Gary’s Philly Steak & Lemonade

August 5, 2017-Gary Police were called to Philly Steak and Lemonade at approximately 12:05 a.m. today. Upon arrival, the officer reported a gunshot victim on scene. According to a statement from Gary Police Lt. Dawn Westerfield, Gary Police were called to 5400 W. 25th Avenue at approximately 12:07 a.m. today for a report of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, “a male was discovered inside a business with a gun shot wound.” The male was later pronounced dead at the scene by coroner investigators according to Lt. Westerfield. A coroner report has not yet been issued regarding the homicide. No information was provided as to the possible motive for the shooting and it is unclear if the victim was an employee or patron of the establishment.

Gary Police are asking for assistance from the public in identifying and locating the individuals pictured below. According to Lt. Dawn Westerfield, “The Lake County/ Gary Metro Homicide Unit is seeking information on the subjects pictured in conjunction with the early morning homicide in the 5400 block of West
25th Avenue. The male and female were last seen in a black SUV traveling West on I80/94. Any one with information on the identity or whereabouts of the male and female is urged to contact Detective Kristopher Adams at 219-755-3855 or the Crime Tip Line at 866-CRIME-GP.
