Gary, EC, and County Police on Scene at Gary Airport After Auto Theft Attempts

August 4, 2017-Gary Police officers responded to the Gary Airport just before midnight tonight after it was reported that several suspects were attempting to steal vehicles. According to information derived from the scanner, as many as six suspects climbed the fence and attempted to drive out in Volkswagen vehicles which are being stored at the airport. Two of the cars ended up in a ditch. Suspects fled from the vehicles on foot. Officers from East Chicago and the Lake County Sheriff’s Police assisted in the search. 3 suspects were seen being taken into custody near Columbus Drive and Cline Avenue.
