BREAKING: Man Dies After Being Shot in Hobart

July 25, 2017-Lake County Coroner Merrilee Frey has confirmed that a man was shot to death overnight in Hobart. According to a report, coroner investigators were called to Methodist Northlake Campus , 600 Grant St. Gary at 12:24 p.m. The report does not identify the victim, but states that he was an African-American male. The man suffered multiple gun shot wounds and the case is being investigated as a homicide according to the report.

The report lists the occurrence location, meaning the location of the shooting, as 800 block of E. 6th Street, Hobart, Indiana. Hobart police have not yet issued a statement on the incident. According to information derived from the scanner, officers responded to the 6th Street location just before 11:00 p.m. Upon arrival, officers could be heard calling for an ambulance. “I have a man down, rush the ambulance” an officer could be heard saying. Officers immediately located a “possible suspect vehicle” near the scene and reported that one suspect was down near the residence and another “took off running.” Officers searched the area for several hours with assistance from the Lake County Sheriff’s Department helicopter. It is unknown at this point if any arrests were made.

  1. You gave our address as the house where the man that died from the gun shot wound. Now we have people driving by our house and gawking and pointing. Now you have singled us out for possible retaliation. You had better print a retraction immediately. The CORRECT address is 812 E. 6th street!!!

  2. The shooting did not occur st 8xx E. 6th, the coroner’s report is incorrect. It was at 8xx E. 6th.
    I know, I live on tjis block and saw some activity.
