Police say a weapon was never shown but “the subject advised he would shoot the employee if they spoke”
June 21, 2017-Hammond Police seek assistance from the public in identifying and locating the individuals in the video below. According to Lt. Steven Kellogg, “On 06/15/2017 at approximately 1:37pm, Hammond Policeresponded to a robbery at the Metro PCS store at 5613 Calumet Ave. The store clerk reported at approximately 1:31pm, 2 males described as in their late teens or early 20’s entered the business and sat down. One of the subjects was about 5’07” (thin build) wearing black t-shirt, shorts and baseball cap. The second subject was similar height/build wearing a white t-shirt, red pants, and white belt. This subject had short brown dreads (possibly dyed tips). The 2 subjects sat there a short time but eventually approached the employee and asked about products. The employee began to unlock the safe where the cell phones were stored. One subject followed her into to the back room where he demanded the cell phones. A weapon was not displayed but the subject advised he would shoot the employee if they spoke.
The subject also attempted to steal cash from within the employee’s purse she was wearing. The employee advised the subject began to forcefully pull on her and drag her across the room in an attempt to steal money from her purse. He then walked back to the front of
the business where the other subject was taking cash from register. They exited the business and fled on foot with cell phones, cash and keys to the business. The included video shows a portion of the Robbery.
