June 16, 2017-The Hammond Fraternal Order of Police and the Hammond Police Department invite you to join them at the Lauren Calvillo Memorial 5k Walk at Wicker Park on Saturday June 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. The event is organized by the family of Lauren Calvillo who was tragically shot on her front porch on June 29, 2015. “This is a great opportunity for our officers to
take part in a public event taking a stand against violence,” says President Michael Elkmann of the Hammond FOP. “Many of our officers were personally affected by the loss of such a young life in this 2015 incident, and they are grateful for the opportunity to stand aside Lauren’s family and friends,” says Elkmann. Chief John Doughty agreed and promised a marked presence at the event on behalf of the Hammond Police Department. HPD’s Community Affairs and Traffic sections will be in attendance and they will provide assistance.

The family friendly event will feature a 5k walk, live entertainment, food and soft drinks, 50/50 raffles, raffle baskets, a bounce house, and a dunk tank. If you are unable to attend the event, donations can be made at any Chase Bank. For more information, please visit the Stop the Violence – Lauren Calvillo Memorial Facebook Page
