At 1:07 a.m. an officer can be heard saying “I’ve got three cars racing each other eastbound on 65th.” Moments later the officer reports that shots have been fired. “I think I got people shooting at each other” the officer reported. “I just crossed over Columbia, they are approaching the Boulevard about 120 mph. . . .”Officers later reported that the occupants of one vehicle had attempted to carjack the other in Illinois. “The two cars that I have here with me, they attempted to steal one of their vehicles. A weapon was displayed and one shot was fired” the officer reported to dispatch. The subjects took off running at 165th Street and California Avenue in Hammond’s Hessville section.
