19 Yr Old Gary Man Charged With Murder

May 31, 2017-A 19 year old Gary man is in custody and charged with murder as a result of a shooting that occurred May 22, according to Lt. Dawn Westerfield. On May 22, 2017 Gary Police responded to a call for service in the 2100 block of Carolina Street according to an earlier report. Upon arrival, officers found Sherrod Carter of the 2000 block of Madison in Gary had suffered a gun shot wound. Carter was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead by Lake County Coroner Merrilee Frey. Police have now charged 19 year old Wesley Darrell Trout with that homicide. “Detective Corporal James Bond secured charges against Wesley Darrell Trout 19 of Gary. The Charges stem from a May 22, 2017 incident in the 2100 block of Carolina Street that resulted in the death of a man” Lt. Westerfield stated in a written release.
