Bus was owned and operated by Prompt Ambulance Service according to Lt. Dawn Westerfield of the Gary Police Department.
May 16, 2017-According to Lt. Dawn Westerfield of the Gary Police Department, a collission between a semi-truck and a bus operated by prompt ambulance service resulted in one death early this morning. Officers were called to west 4th Avenue and Rutledge Streets at 5:29 a.m. according to the statement. “Upon officers arrival it was discovered that a semi tractor trailer and a Prompt transport vehicle had been in a collision. One of the passengers in the transport van was declared deceased on scene by the Lake County Coroner’s office” the report continues.
Neither the identity nor the condition of the truck driver were released at this time. Officers are still on scene at this time and additional details will be released when they are available.
