Two Valparaiso Officers Recognized for Saving Life

April 29, 2017-At a meeting of the Valparaiso City Council on Monday, April 24, two officers were recognized for saving the life of a resident. According to a statement from Valparaiso Police, Officers Michelle Kodiak and Jason Hamilton responded to a call of an individual not breathing on March 2, 2017. “Officer Kodicek was first to arrive on the scene and learned the male subject was not breathing, did not have a pulse and was turning blue in color. She immediately utilized her portable AED and began chest compressions. Officer Jason Hamilton arrived and both officers continued CPR and chest compressions until EMS arrived” the report continues.

Valparaiso EMS arrived on scene and transported the individual to the hospital. The individual recovered and was able to attend the awards ceremony at City Hall according to Police.
