7 bullet holes were clearly visible as well as two broken windows
April 15, 2017-Hammond Police responded to a call of shots fired at the intersection of California Avenue and 163rd Place at approximately 11:45 p.m. last night. According to witnesses, Hammond Police were on scene just moments after the call and discovered a blue Chevrolet Tahoe, pictured above, with broken windows and bullet holes. We spoke with the owner of the Vehicle, who identified himself as Damon, and he stated he was at a nearby relatives house when the incident occurred. “My aunt came home and saw the police” Damon explained as he was sweeping up glass from the street. Six bullet holes and two broken windows were noted.
Hammond Police have not yet issued a statement on the shooting incident, so it is not known if any arrests were made. A heightened police presence could be seen in the area overnight following the incident. Residents in the area are urged to exercise heightened awareness and report any suspicious incidents immediately by calling 9-1-1.
