Hessville Armed Robberies: Speedway and Dunkin Donuts Robbed

April 4, 2017-Hammond Police say they responded to two separate armed robberies in the 7300 block of Kennedy Avenue within 24 hours. According to a report from Lt. Steven Kellogg of the Hammond Police Department, Speedway Gas Station, 7345 Kennedy Avenue was robbed at 8:00 p.m. on April 2, 2017. On April 3 at approximately 12:47 p.m. police were dispatched to Dunkin Donuts regarding an armed robbery. Police say a black male entered the Dunkin Donuts, 7410 Kennedy Avenue, and displayed a weapon. The male fled without getting any cash according to the report. Information derived from residents and the scanner indicates that the subject is believed to have fled on foot down the alley. Residents reported a large police presence in the area including a search utilizing a K9 officer in the 7300 block of Marshall. Police say they did not make any arrests as a result of the incident.

Similarly, in the Speedway incident, a light skinned black male entered the Speedway Gas Station, 7345 Kennedy Avenue, pointed a weapon at the clerk and demanded money according to police. The was given an undetermined amount of cash and fled toward Kennedy Avenue according to the report. “The male was observed wearing black pants, a black sweatshirt, and red shoes” the report continues.
