Valparaiso Police Seek Public Assistance After Walgreens Robbed at Gunpoint

March 19, 2017-Valparaiso Police say a man walked into Walgreen’s, 1903 Calumet Ave, and jumped the pharmacy counter demanding the opioid oxycontin. According to the statement, officers were notified of the robbery at 9:33 p.m. Valparaiso Police and Porter County Sheriff’s Department arrived on scene within minutes according to information derived from the scanner. Police say that, upon investigation, they learned “that a male white subject had entered the store and approached the pharmacy counter. He then jumped the counter, displayed a black handgun and demanded “Oxycontin” from pharmacy employees. The male subject obtained oxycontin and then fled the store on foot in a south west direction.”

Police used a K9 Officer and searched the area with negative results according to the report. “Witnesses described the white male subject as 5’9”-5’10” tall, blue eyes and in his middle 20’s to early 30’s (years old) with a medium build. He was wearing a
dark colored jacket over a hooded sweat shirt. His face was wrapped in a multi- colored scarf and he was wearing dark rimmed eye glasses, according to Police.
