SMDG Ranked Near Last by State of Indiana While Receiving Contracts from One Region Connected Polticians and Agencies

By | March 20, 2017

March 20, 2017-SMDG, LLC has become the vendor of choice for One Region connected politicians and organizations in the area. The Gary Community School Corporation, the City of Gary, the Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority, NIPSCO and the Lake Area United Way have all chosen SMDG for some or all of their social media work. The Gazette has now learned that SMDG bid on work with the State of Indiana in 2015, just months before getting nearly $1M in contracts from the beleaguered Gary Community School Corporation and was ranked at the bottom of the list. Unlike GCSC, the City of Gary and the RDA, however, the State of Indiana uses a competitive bidding process when selecting vendors.

Based on a Request for Proposals from the Indana Department of Family and Social Services Administration, the Indiana Department of Administration evaluated bids from five separate vendors in March, 2015. Among those vendors was SMDG, LLC. On a scale of 0-75, SMDG received a score of 50 from the State. SMDG was a full 20 points below the winner bidder and 10 points from even moving on to the second round of consideration.
