Hammond Officer Uninjured When Vehicle Strikes Squad Car

March 20, 2017-A Hammond Police squad car was struck early this morning as the officer was attempting to negotiate a u-turn to assist a stranded motorist. The officer was not injured in the crash. According to Lt. Steven Kellog, “On 3/20/17 at approximately 6:25 am, A Hammond Police Officer vehicles off to the side of the road possibly involved in an accident on Calumet Ave. The officer
activated his emergency lights in the 3500 block of Calumet Ave. and was executing a U-turn to check on the accident when his police vehicle was struck in the rear driver’s side by a Honda Civic. No injuries were reported at this accident.”
