March 18, 2017-Gary Police say officers discovered a man had been shot to death this morning after being called to the 400 block of Ellsworth St. According to Lt. Thomas Pawlak of the Gary Police Department, at approximately 9:45 am officers responded to a call of a black male lying face down in the rear yard of an abandoned home. Upon arrival officers discovered that the male had suffered multiple gun shot wounds. Lake County Coroner Investigators were called to the scene and the man was pronounced dead at 10:38 a.m. according to Lt. Pawlak.
Lake County Coroner Merrilee Frey has identified the deceased man as 24 year old Jason D. Harris of the 400 block of Ellsworth Street in Gary. Harris suffered multiple gun shot wounds and the case is being investigated as a homicide according to the report from Coroner Frey.
